"Racer" is Parts Per Million's first music video, which transcended from a simple inquiry from Jonald Reyes to Bruce Rarang (of PPM).  The members met up with the filmmaker at their rehearsal space to talk about ideas for the music video and it grew from there.

["Parts Per Million's "Racer" was one of the first productions I worked with Jonald on.  We all met up at our practice space and had a preliminary meeting about our vision and his ideas.  I knew at that moment we had a great director on our side.  Jonald was able to keep an open mind and collaborate.  His main goal was to have a product that would not only be a promotional tool, but a piece of artful footage that we all could be proud of. ]  - Jimmy Chung, member of PPM

From there, Jonald took the brainstorming session and began to turn it into visual ideas.  Here are a few of the storyboards created in going back and forth with the gentlemen on attaining the concept:

The entire video shoot occurred 4 times within a month span (September, 2009).

One of the difficult tasks faced during the month was probably acquiring a good number of extras for certain scenes.  We were able to get a good final head count for Bruce's / Jay's scenes, but didn't meet the goal we originally intended.  With that in mind, we basically placed people in specific camera frame positions to add to the illusion of a heavier backdrop.  Also - inside scoop - if you look closely right at the beginning of Jay's scene within Murasaki Lounge at the beginning of the final product, you'll see a person wearing a grey jacket / hat and black shirt but never see his face...well, since we were low in numbers of extras, Jimmy Chung wore a disguise to add another body to the mix.  Getting extras for Jensen's scene in Ch'ava Cafe was interesting as we pulled random folk from the Sushi restaurant next door.  When it comes down to the wire and to the necessity of the film, we all pulled together and utilized whatever resources we had.  PPM also has very good friends who helped where possible.

[We celebrated our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY on Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at Murasaki Lounge where we premiered our video for our song "Racer"! Our buddy Jonald Reyes was kind enough to direct and shoot a video for the 1st song off our second album 'Stop Motion'. We also performed a short acoustic set, all while knockin' back some delicious sake!] -PPM Youtube Description for "Racer"
